Ceren Kulkul Akyunak is a postdoctoral researcher at the Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc). She completed her PhD in 2022 at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin. She received her undergraduate degree in 2014 and her master’s degree in 2017 at the Department of Sociology at Middle East Technical University. In her doctoral thesis, she worked on the identity and community construction of immigrant women with Turkish origin in Berlin. Her research interests are migration studies, urban sociology, gender and community studies. She has publications in the fields of new wave migration, manifestation of religious identity in the city and intersectional approach. She has taught at the Humboldt University of Berlin on qualitative research techniques and social networks in neighborhood
